Walking the shamanic path gave me support and tools to meet everyday challenges with ease and grace.
It liberated me from conventional thinking and elevated me to an endless-multiverse-level of wisdom. It gave me resources beyond what society, my family, even higher education had given me. It freed me up to live more authentically my soul’s purpose, less focused on the smaller purpose of this single lifetime and cultural expectations that go along with who I am in this life.
I’m far more interested in your soul purpose than I am in your life purpose. Knowing your soul purpose is much bigger than how you express that in this one lifetime.
If your soul purpose is to bring joy, boom! There are 1,000 ways you can do that in your life. Be a clown, a chef, a musician, a lover, a comedian, a tennis instructor, opera singer, landscaper, a grandparent, a puppy! Ok, so you can’t be a puppy. There are so many ways you can express the soul purpose of bringing joy, but you gotta know what that bigger picture is first. Then you think about what you enjoy and look at where the two overlap. What’s your life’s Venn diagram?
My soul purpose is to elevate ordinary consciousness to the extraordinary, to the interconnectedness of all beings. My life purpose is to teach. I love teaching. And I’m really a practical, nerdy, organized, spiritual, creative, free thinker. I was in investment banking, raised a family, studied herbs and shamanism. I know those don’t normally go together, but for me they do. And they can for you too when you step out of living in limiting duality thinking and step into knowing that you are ALL things simultaneously.
Back to soul purpose, with my personal Venn diagram of a life—these overlapping circles remember, I discovered I’m passionate about teaching elevated consciousness, spirituality and interconnectedness to people like me--smart, creative, driven, modern humans with full lives who know there is more. I found shamanic tools, nature-based spirituality, energy work, metaphysics, quantum principles and daily practices that work in a contemporary life.
I don’t want to go live in an ashram or the jungle. I want it to fit in my current life—my home and relationships. I need it to work with kids, partners, co-workers and mobile devices. I want to go to the beach and drink a pina colada and still find Spirit in it all.
By walking what I call the Path of the Sacred Ordinary, I found a way to live the shamanic way every day. I’ve integrated spirituality and elevated consciousness into this amazing modern life.
And trust me, doing this work, walking this path, has made life so much better. I have abundance beyond what was imaginable growing up as one of six children to a construction worker dad and hospital cleaning staff mom in rural Illinois. Doors have opened for me that I never would have believed possible. I live in Love—Universal, Unlimited, Unconditional Love—every day, and I can be of service to others. That’s the best part for me. I need these connections. I need this community. For me this service is an honor that I approach humbly.
And by-the-way, it doesn’t mean that I always get it right, or that I don’t get angry or sad. It means I don’t stay there, I’m not afraid of those feelings. And that’s the best way to live. I willingly walk into those dark places with my tools and my support and do the work. Living the shamanic way every day doesn’t mean perfection. It means knowing that I, and you, are divinely imperfectly perfect.
