You say you want peace. But are you still expecting chaos? You say you want abundance. But somewhere underneath that desire, are you still telling yourself: There will never be enough. You say you want a loving relationship, meaningful work, more freedom, a different life. But are you still making choices from the version of you who learned that love isn’t safe, work has to be hard, money disappears, or freedom has to be earned? This is where manifestation gets interesting. Because wanting something and being aligned with it are not always the same thing. The Old Life Can Follow Us Into the New One
We can change the circumstances without changing the beliefs we bring into them. We can leave the stressful job and create another one that exhausts us. We can leave an unhealthy relationship and find ourselves repeating familiar dynamics with someone new. We can finally have more money and still live with the constant fear that it will disappear. Sometimes the outer life changes before the inner one does. And sometimes we try desperately to create something new while unconsciously making decisions based on everything the old life taught us. Not because we are doing manifestation wrong. Not because we aren't spiritual enough. And certainly not because every difficult thing that happens to us is something we somehow "attracted." I don't believe that. But I do believe our inner world matters. I believe our expectations, beliefs, choices, and deeply held stories shape how we move through the world—and what we can recognize, choose, trust, and receive. What If a Belief Is Actually a Decision? One idea from David Bayer's A Changed Mind stopped me in my tracks. He presents beliefs as decisions. ✨ Wow! 🤯 Think about that for a moment. What if something you have been calling a belief is actually a decision you made a long time ago? Maybe something happened, and you decided: I can't trust people. I have to do everything myself. Money is hard to come by. I'm not good at relationships. People always leave. I have to struggle to succeed. And then you repeated that decision so many times that eventually it stopped feeling like a decision. It started feeling like the truth. That reframing has remarkably shifted something in me. Because a belief can feel enormous. Permanent. Almost like part of our identity. But a decision? A decision can be reconsidered. You Are Allowed to Make a New Decision This has changed the way I look at my own limiting beliefs. Instead of asking only, Why do I believe this? I have begun asking: When did I decide this was true? And then: Is it still true for me? Does this decision belong in the life I am creating now? What would I choose if I were deciding today? And where can I find evidence for that new decision, right now in my life today? That shift has brought me into greater alignment with my own truth—and with what I am manifesting, or perhaps more accurately, what I am co-creating with Spirit, Source, God. It has also changed how I feel about myself. There is less judgment. Less sense that there is something inside me that needs to be fixed. More awareness that somewhere along the way, I made decisions based on what I knew, what I had experienced, and what I needed at the time. And now I get to decide again. Manifestation Requires More Than Wanting We can make vision boards, write intentions, pray, journal, visualize, and ask Spirit for guidance. All of those things can be beautiful practices. But eventually we have to notice the life we are actually living. If I say I want peace, where am I still choosing chaos? If I say I want abundance, where am I still making decisions from scarcity? If I say I want love, where am I still protecting myself from being fully known? If I say I want freedom, where am I still waiting for permission? Not as accusations. As questions. Because manifestation, to me, isn't about controlling the universe. It is about becoming conscious enough to participate in the creation of our lives. Maybe the question isn't simply: What am I trying to manifest? Maybe it is: What decisions would the person living that life make? And am I willing to begin making them now?
