Let’s be honest for a moment: healing can feel exhausting. If you’ve been in the wellness or spiritual space for a while, your calendar might look a lot like a second job. Between processing ancestral trauma, doing deep shadow work, tracking your nervous system metrics, journaling through blocks, and trying to perfectly balance your chakras, it’s easy to feel a strange kind of spiritual burnout. We get so serious about "fixing" ourselves that we completely forget what we are actually healing for. As a shamanic practitioner and empowerment coach, I want to give you permission to put down the heavy lifting for a moment. As we head into the sun-drenched days of late June, your soul doesn't need another therapy session or a deeper meditation. It needs play. The Shamanic Perspective: Joy as Soul Medicine In shamanic traditions, when someone comes to a medicine person feeling chronically fatigued, anxious, or disconnected, the shaman doesn't just ask about their trauma. They ask questions like: When did you stop dancing? When did you stop singing? When did you find comfort in the sweet territory of silence? A loss of joy is often a symptom of what we call soul loss—specifically, a disconnection from your inner child or the wild, untamed essence of who you are. Your inner child doesn't heal by being psychoanalyzed on a couch. She heals when she is allowed to come out and play. She heals when you let her get her hands dirty in the garden, stay up late to watch the fireflies, or laugh so hard your stomach aches. Joy isn't a reward you finally earn after you’ve cleared all your trauma. Joy is the clearing mechanism. The Energetics of a Good Belly Laugh I’ve had the immense gift of spending the last two months deeply immersed in the world of my two-year-old granddaughter and six-month-old grandson, and they have been my greatest spiritual teachers lately. I constantly catch my granddaughter laughing for no reason at all. She doesn’t wait for a funny moment to happen; she just laughs purely for the joy of laughing. And the moment she starts, I can't help but follow her lead. Then, her baby brother looks at us both, catches the frequency, and joins right in. It is a beautiful, unfiltered chain reaction of pure life force energy. Children don't need a reason to play or a permission slip to feel joy—they are wired for it, and they remind us that we are, too. From an energy healing perspective, joy and laughter are lightning-fast frequency shifters. When you are stuck in over-thinking or grief, your energy fields contract, becoming dense and sluggish. Here is what happens energetically when you choose play and laughter:
Your June "Playwork" Challenge As women, we are deeply conditioned to be the caretakers, the achievers, and the planners. We are allowed to have "fun," but only after the house is clean, the clients are taken care of, and the to-do list is empty. This week, I challenge you to flip the script. Try a few of these mystical micro-adventures to invite the "Wild Child" back out:
True Empowerment Includes Pleasure Spiritual growth isn't just about surviving the dark nights of the soul; it’s about having the capacity to hold immense light, pleasure, and fun. You did not come to this planet just to survive and heal; you came here to live, to taste the summer fruit, to feel the sun on your skin, and to revel in the magic of being alive. Put down the self-help books for the weekend. Go outside, find what makes you smile, and let joy be your medicine. Ready to Reclaim Your Wild, Sovereign Self? True empowerment means living a life aligned with your desires, not everyone else's expectations. If you are ready to break free from the rules, heal your energetic boundaries, and step into unapologetic joy, let’s work together.
